Public Policy and Social Justice

FREE COURSES

The Association for Good Government runs public education courses in
the ideas and principles enunciated by Henry George (1839-1897).

Economics for Those Seeking Social Justice:
This is a four week introductory course exploring the principles enunciated by Henry George in his book “Progress and Poverty”.
The course will be held twice this year in February-March and November-December.
The February course commences on Tuesday, 26th February and will continue every Tuesday from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm until 18th March at Level 2, 58 Pitt Street, Sydney. The course is free of charge and course notes and refreshments are provided.
           Certificates are awarded to those who complete the course.
The November course will commence on Tuesday, 11th November and continue through to 2nd December.
Very likely there will be a further introductory course held mid-year (details not yet available).

Those Seeking Social Justice covering the areas of
Principles; Economics; and Public Policy:
These are one-day courses and will be held on three consecutive days from 10am to 1pm and repeated at night from 5.30pm to 8.30pm  during the school holidays allowing those interested to choose to attend any number of courses as they desire.
They will be held on Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday  15-17 April; 22-24 April; 8-10 July; 15-17 July; 30 September-2 October; and 7-9 October, 2008. These courses are also free of charge and refreshments will be provided.

SEMINARS
There will be six Sunday seminars held this year. They will take place on the third Sunday in selected months between 2 and 4pm in the  afternoon, are free of charge and refreshments are provided:-
16th March; 20th April; 18th May; 17th August; 21st September; and 19th October.

CONFERENCE
There will be a one and one-half day (all day Saturday and half-day Sunday) conference in the third quarter of the year. It is proposed to hold it at Quality Hotel Noah’s on the Beach at Newcastle.
Speakers are requested to deliver a talk on one of the books contained in Progress and Poverty.
Accommodation will be provided for members and their partners/friends on Friday and Saturday nights and breakfast, lunch and morning and afternoon tea will be provided.
A small registration fee will be payable.

The above dates are flexible and might be altered to fit in with  speakers’ needs.
